Alex
Host
Alex didn't grow up watching women's sports. He'll be the first to tell you that. For most of his life he was locked into Minnesota's men's teams, the kind of fan who knows the rosters, argues the trades, and watches every game. Women's sports entered the picture slowly, starting with high school soccer games when his now-wife Caitlin was coaching, then USWNT games, then Lynx basketball, then more and more until it just became part of how he watches sports.
Having two daughters accelerated that shift. It's not just about what they see on a screen, it's about what they hear at home, including how the people around them talk about women and women athletes. He wanted to get that part right too.
On the podcast, Alex plays a specific role: he's the guy who didn't always know the history or the lore, and asks the questions that newer fans are probably thinking. He brings genuine curiosity about how things work, including CBA negotiations, roster construction, and the logistics behind what makes a team actually competitive, alongside enough humor to keep things from getting too heavy. He'll also be honest that being a man means there's a lot he doesn't fully get, the history, the barriers, what it actually feels like to fight for the space women's sports has had to fight for. Part of his job on the show is making room for Caitlin and the athletes and stories they cover to fill that in. He and Caitlin have been told they have great chemistry, which tracks, given they've been partners long enough to agree & disagree well.
Off the mic, Alex is a technical product manager at a large financial services company, which explains why he also built the website, edits the podcast, and is probably thinking about the system behind whatever you're currently reading. When he's not doing that, he's in the gym, on a lake somewhere in a Minnesota summer, or losing track of time in a video game. He's a big fan of the Minnesota Frost and the Lynx, and will absolutely talk your ear off about both if given the chance.
